Message from Headteacher

As we come to the end of another busy week I would like to extend a warm welcome to the families who joined us for our New Starter Parents’ Evening. It was wonderful to meet so many of you, and we look forward to working in partnership as your children begin the next exciting stage of their educational journey with us.

A special thank you goes to Ella W, Susannah W and Archie W for their excellent speeches during the evening. They spoke with confidence, warmth and enthusiasm, giving our new families a real insight into life at our school. We are very proud of how positively they represented our community.

This week, twenty of our Year 10 Art students visited Leeds Arts University, where they took part in a range of inspiring creative workshops. Students enjoyed making a zine (a small, self-published magazine) and participated in a typography workshop, developing and designing their own fonts. The experience provided a fantastic opportunity to explore new artistic techniques and gain an insight into further study in the creative arts as well as a tour of their fantastic creative facilities. Thank you to Mrs Stewart for arranging this opportunity.

Also this week, Year 10 sudent April D represented the school in the Yorkshire Final of the Speak Out challenge which took place at the Carriageworks in Leeds. Congratulations to April on reaching the final and for representing our school so brilliantly. Her speech was entitled Pigeons V Seagulls and was about manners and how we can come across to others. The standard was very high, but sadly she wasn’t among the winners although she definitely got the most laughs and it was one of the most original speeches. We are incredibly proud of her achievement and thank you to Mr Hayes for organsiing this.

I hope you all have a restful and enjoyable weekend.

Mr GIll
Head of Academy.
