WEEKLY BULLETIN
Message from the Hedteacher
Today has been a fantastic day in school, with our annual Sports Day bringing energy, enthusiasm and plenty of friendly competition. It has been wonderful to see students demonstrating determination, teamwork and resilience, while cheering one another on throughout the day. Thank you to all the staff who have worked so hard to make the event such a success and in particular the fantastic PE department, headed up by Mrs Wilson.

It has also been another busy and exciting week beyond the classroom. Many of our students enjoyed memorable trips to Flamingo Land, while over the weekend 11 of our students successfully completed their Silver Duke of Edinburgh’s Award expedition. This is a tremendous achievement that reflects their perseverance, teamwork and commitment, and we are incredibly proud of them.
We were also delighted to welcome the acclaimed poet Brian Bilston, often referred to as “The Poet Laureate of Twitter”, into school. His poems are full of humour, warmth and heart, and students thoroughly enjoyed hearing him perform and talk about his writing. It was an inspiring opportunity that brought poetry to life in a fresh and engaging way. Thank you to Mr Hayes for faciliting this opportunity.
Some of our Year 7 students also visited Harrogate Library with Mrs Rees, where they had the chance to explore its resources and further develop their love of reading. Also, there was an exciting trip to STEMFest organised by Mr Littlewood.
Please remember to buy your tickets for the Creative Arts Festival that is taking part on the 9th July. Students are looking forward to showcasing their work and all ticket sales will go directly back into these departments so any support you can give is appreciated.
As we move closer towards the end of the school year, it is wonderful to see our students embracing so many different opportunities, whether through sport, literature, outdoor adventure or educational visits.
Next week we are looking forward to welcoming our new students on the Transition Days and the Geography field trip to Hornsea is taking place.
Thank you, as always, for your continued support, and I hope everyone has a restful weekend.
Mr Gill
Head of Academy.
