WEEKLY BULLETIN
Message from the Headteacher
As we come to the end of another busy and successful week, I would like to thank everyone for the enthusiasm and positivity that has been on display across our school.
We began the week with our termly Community Day, themed around Equality. Our Community Days are about far more than activities; they are about building empathy, developing understanding and creating meaningful connections through our school CARES Values and within our wider community. Throughout the day, students explored themes of accessibility, inclusion, communication and community connection.
One Year 9 student commented, “I didn’t think when I came into school today that I would be learning sign language and painting with my mouth!” It was wonderful to hear students reflecting so po
sitively on experiences that challenged their thinking and broadened their perspectives. Thank you to Miss Addy for organising the themed session this term.
It has been a pleasure to welcome our new students during our Transition Days. It was great to see them settling in so quickly, beginning to make new friendships and experiencing all that our school has to offer. During their celebration assembly, Mr Coleman told them how proud he is to be their Head of Year. I would like to echo those sentiments. I am very proud to be their new Headteacher and look forward to welcoming them officially in September.
Congratulations to our Brilliant Club students, who graduated this week. Their commitment, resilience and academic ambition throughout the programme have been outstanding, and they should be incredibly proud of their achievements. Well done to everyone involved.
Our Geography students enjoyed a valuable field trip to Hornsea, gaining first-hand experience to support their learning. Thank you to the staff who organised and accompanied the visit.
Last night’s Creative Arts Festival was a celebration of the talent within our creative arts community. It was a pleasure to be able to showcase the creativity, dedication and hard work of our students. Thank you to everyone who performed, exhibited their work or helped make the evening such a success.
You may also have seen on our social media channels that our Gardening Club has supported the local community by donating school-grown produce to the Harrogate Homeless Project. This is a wonderful example of our students making a positive difference beyond the school gates, and I am immensely proud of their kindness and community spirit.
Finally, with the exceptionally warm weather continuing, please remember to take care. Stay hydrated, keep cool where possible and look after yourselves and those around you. I hope you all have a wonderful weekend.
Mr Gill
Head of Academy.
