Message from the Headteacher
We have now completed our second week of term, and it has been wonderful to see pupils settling so well into school life. Classrooms are buzzing with positive energy as new and returning students establish their routines and throw themselves into their learning.
Today students were vaccinated against flu. Thank you to Miss Green for coordinating this to help our students stay healthy during the winter months.
Our wide range of enrichment clubs is now fully up and running. With options spanning sports, music, art, science, and gaming, there is truly something for every interest.
A big congratulations goes to the Year 11 students who recently completed the Shine Programme in collaboration with the University of York. Exploring higher education at this crucial stage builds confidence, boosts GCSE motivation, and unlocks future potential. A fantastic effort by all involved! Special thanks to Mr Coleman for coordinating this valuable partnership.
Next week on the 23rd September, we are holding a Year 11 Parent Information Evening to support families and pupils prepare for thier final year.
At Harrogate High School, we are committed to offering meaningful career insights and practical experience to help students make informed decisions about their futures. To expand these opportunities, we are seeking to broaden our network of professional contacts within our school community.
We invite parents, guardians, and local community members to support us in any of the following ways:
- Offer Work Experience Placements: Host a student at your workplace for a short placement to provide invaluable real-world experience.
- Deliver an Industry Talk: Share your expertise to inform and inspire students about different career pathways.
- Attend Careers Events: Participate in careers fairs, mock interviews, or Q&A panels to give students a clearer picture of the working world.
- Share Apprenticeship or Job Opportunities: Connect with us if your business offers apprenticeships, internships, or entry-level positions suitable for young people.

Finally, our upcoming Open Evening is on 1st October. We would be deeply grateful if you could pass this date along to any friends or family who are currently exploring secondary school options for their Year 5 and Year 6 children.
