Message from the Headteacher
During the past few days I have interviewed some year 11 students to join our student leadership team and for the role of Head student. We will be announcing the whole school student leadership team next week but these interviews have been an interesting insight for me to hear the students talk about school, the aspiration they have and the difference they wish to contribute to help our community strive to be even better.
This week marked an important milestone in the academic year — HHS Destinations Day. This annual event is designed to offer Year 10 and 11 students a chance to gain insights into future possibilities. Students had the opportunity to hear about apprenticeships with an ASK Apprenticeship talk, hear from professionals from a diverse range of careers, talk about post 16 options and find out about next steps to broaden their horizons.
Also this week, year 9 students had the fantastic opportunity to take part in an oracy workshop. Oracy workshops provide students with the tools to express themselves confidently, engage in thoughtful dialogue, and develop critical thinking. The workshop focused on developing students' speaking and listening skills through various interactive activities. The session included practical exercises, group discussions, and public speaking opportunities, helping students to gain confidence in expressing their ideas clearly and effectively.
Today is the last day to buy tickets (via parentpay) for the PTA Winter Wonderland school disco, so please dont forget to action this so your child doesn't miss out!
Wishing you a pleasant weekend.
Mr Gill Head of Academy.
