Message from the Headteacher

This week has been full of fantastic collaboration with our local primary schools and local community, showcasing the creativity and enthusiasm of our students and staff.

On Monday, our Year 9 students visited New Park Primary School, followed by a visit to Willowtree Primary on Wednesday. They shared a vibrant dance performance that took the audience on a journey through dance history, from the roaring Charleston era to the funky moves of Austin Powers! A big well done to all the students involved, and special thanks to Mrs Hastings for leading this project.

Another exciting event was welcoming 65 pupils from Willowtree Primary for an inspiring science demonstration. The Science Team brought the subject to life with thrilling experiments including ethanol rockets, pop rockets, and methane bubbles. The room was filled with gasps of amazement and eager questions, proving just how engaging science can be! Thank you also to Mr Wood for organising this, and to  Mr Littlewood, the Science department and the student STEM ambassadors for assisting.

In addition to this, the Science department organised a trip to
STEM fest, an engaging and dynamic festival dedicated to celebrating the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM). Our HHS students enjoyed the variety of interactive workshops, presentations, exhibitions, and  competitions.

Also, Miss Addy welcomed NYBEP into school to deliver workshops on sustainable career options to a selection of students across Year 8 and Year 9. This initiative involved designing a bus depot, and culminated in a fantastic fashion fusion workshop, where students explored creativity, innovation, and environmental awareness. Thank you to NYBEP and Miss Addy for making this happen.

Finally, Thursday marked a special occasion for the Year 11 cohort, their Prom. Thank you to all the staff involved in organising their send-off celebration.

Thank you to everyone who made this week so enjoyable and memorable for our students.
Have a lovely weekend.

Mr Gill
Head of Academy
