Message from the Headteacher

It is incredibly busy in school as we build up to the Christmas break. The school drama production took place and was a great success, showcasing the hard work and talent. From the impressive performances to the behind-the-scenes teamwork, every participant contributed and we are proud of everyone involved and grateful to all the families who came to support the event.  Well done to all the students and to Mrs Hastings for putting on such a great show.

Geography students from Harrogate High School took an active role in shaping local policy this week after attending the Town Investment Plan meeting hosted by North Yorkshire County Council. The trip enabled student participation in the decision-making process and the chance to present ideas of their own, offer perspectives on sustainable development, and how to improve community facilities for future investment. Mr Morrison said the visit gave students a “valuable insight into how strategic planning affects the communities they live in.”

We marked a major milestone yesterday evening with the Class of 2025 Prize-Giving and Learning First Awards Event. The celebration welcomed Year 11 students back to the school, celebrated academic achievement, personal progress, and outstanding contributions across the cohort and school.

DSC 0522 aWe were delighted to welcome former students Elizabeth Laverick and Adam Daniel. Elizabeth, former winner of the highest attaining student award, presented the award to the 2025 winner Nina L.

Adam Daniel, now Managing Director of Your Harrogate Media Group, addressed the audience as guest speaker.  Adam obviously realises the importance of championing local community and as Harrogate’s only truly inclusive community school we were delighted he agreed to return to school to present our awards. Adam reflected on his time at the school and urged students to “work hard, stay curious, and make the most of every opportunity.”

He was delighted to see Mrs Stewart and Mrs Hastings, both who he recalled from his days at HHS.

DSC 0479 Adam and ALS and SHI would like to thank Jasmine C and Lauren B for their performances during the evening. Jasmine played the cello and Lauren played guitar and sang. Well done to both of you.

The ceremony concluded with staff praising the resilience and ambition of the Class of 2025, describing them as “a year group with the potential to make a significant impact beyond the school gates.”

Have a restful weekend.

Mr Gill
