Message from the Headteacher

This week has been an important one in school, as you are aware, Ofsted visited Harrogate High School. I am not in a position to be able to share the outcome of our positive inspection at this stage; however, I would like to sincerely thank our staff, students, and families for their support throughout the visit. The professionalism, commitment, and pride shown in our school community were evident, and I am grateful to everyone involved.  I will communicate the findings when I have the written report.

On Tuesday, Year 11 students headed to Leeds on the train (thanks to our partnership with Northern Rail) to complete their human geography GCSE fieldwork. In cold conditions, students investigated evidence of regeneration in the city centre, then received a careers talk from members of Northern Rail in 'the dark arches' under the station.

This week, it has also been "Time to Talk Day," known as the nation’s biggest mental health conversation. This is an opportunity to remind schools, families, workplaces, and communities to come together to talk, listen, and support one another. There are many simple ways to do this, messaging a friend, chatting over a cup of tea, going for a walk with a colleague, or sharing a message on social media. Even a small gesture can make a big difference. Taking time to check in with someone or offering a listening ear can turn a difficult day into a better one.

Looking ahead, GCSE Hospitality practical examinations take place next week. We would like to wish all students the very best of luck as they prepare for and complete these assessments.

I hope you all have positive weekend and I hope my staff team, in particular, have a restful break this weekend.

Mr Gill
