Message from the Headteacher

IMG 20260226 WA0010Welcome back to all our students and families after the half term break. I hope you had a restful and enjoyable week.

On Monday, staff from across the Trust took part in a Trust-wide Learning Exchange Day. Colleagues were able to choose from a diverse range of professional development sessions hosted at venues across the Trust area. Sessions focused on key themes including AI in education, inclusive practice, pupil engagement, climate-wise education, and a variety of wider development opportunities, including volunteering.

Some staff from Harrogate High School joined our CEO for a volunteering initiative, planting over 300 trees on a farm near Skipton. This initiative reflected our NSAT Promise, which commits us to empowering children and young people to become change-makers for a sustainable future and a better world.

The trees planted will create vital wildlife habitats and help prevent soil erosion, making a meaningful environmental impact. Equally important was the positive impact on staff wellbeing; the day offered fresh air, teamwork and a shared sense of purpose and, by all accounts, a great deal of enjoyment.

We hope that staff across the Trust found the day equally productive.

I am delighted to share that the school ski trip was a tremendous success. It was an awe-inspiring experience for everyone involved and a wonderful opportunity for our students to challenge themselves, develop resilience, and create lasting memories. My sincere thanks go to Mr Harvey for all his hard work organising this and to the staff team who accompanied and supported the students throughout the trip. Well done for enduring the long trip back home!

Year 11 students are in the midst of another set of mock exams to ensure they are as prepared as possible for their upcoming GCSEs.
These exams are a great way of highlighting areas that need targetting and should be used as a constructive way of finding out the areas that need focus in the remaining weeks of exam preparation.

This week the English department took GCSE students to York to an inspiring event, Poetry Live and today, another group of students are visiting the Royal Armouries Museum in Leeds with Mr Pedro. We are very proud to be able to offer such enriching educational experiences beyond the classroom.

Last night we held our Parent Evening for Year 9 students. Thank you to all the parents and staff who took part. We hope the discussions provided valuable feedback and helpful guidance to support your child’s continued progress and success.

As we begin this new half term, we look forward to another busy and productive few weeks ahead.

Mr Gill
Head of Academy
